Roger Gann
President/CEO – Martindale Consultants
Joint Operations Accounting: Lease & Title Impacts on Billing, Revenue, and Compliance with Agreements
Roger will discuss how professional lease and title analyst functions affect joint operations accounting, with a focus on both expenses and revenues. The presentation will begin with an overview of the key agreements commonly used in joint ventures, including how those agreements influence billing decks and revenue distribution decks. It will also address issues of particular importance to non-operator parties whose rights and obligations are governed by these agreements. In addition, Roger will touch on the emerging use of artificial intelligence (AI) in joint operations, including questions surrounding whether AI-related costs are properly chargeable under governing agreements.
Roger Gann began his Martindale career in 1995 after graduating from the University of Oklahoma. In 2017, he took on the role of Chief Executive Officer and President of the firm. Roger has extensive experience in performing and managing expenditure, revenue, royalty, and midstream audits; consulting with clients on joint venture accounting issues; and providing expert witness and litigation support in the oil and gas industry.
Roger is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). With decades of Martindale experience, he is uniquely qualified to work with clients to identify, manage, and execute projects ranging from international joint ventures and cost recoveries, deepwater, onshore conventional and non-conventional joint venture accounting and audit issues, vendor compliance, revenue and royalty payments, and governmental entity-related projects.
Roger encourages the Martindale employees to give back and support the oil and gas industry by participating in professional organizations such as the Council of Petroleum Accountant’s Societies (COPAS), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Association of Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Women’s Energy Network (WEN), and various other organizations. He has volunteered in several of these organizations and served in various leadership roles.
Roger proudly served in the United States Air Force prior to starting his journey with Martindale.
