Lisa Hamil, CPL
Founder – Energy 360
Lisa Hamil, CPL, brings over four decades of expertise in the oil and gas industry, specializing in land and land administration. Transitioning from her role at Western Midstream, Lisa now focuses on highlighting the vital correlation between energy and consumerism.
As the Founder of Energy360, a nonprofit organization, Lisa provides impartial education on all aspects of energy. Her primary goal is to foster a more holistic energy dialogue, emphasizing the interconnectedness of various energy sources and their significance in our daily lives. Lisa asserts that any discussion on climate change or energy is incomplete without addressing America’s profound appetite for consumer goods.
In addition to her nonprofit work, Lisa has been an educator for over a decade, teaching the “Life Cycle of Oil and Natural Gas” Certificate Program at the University of Colorado at Denver’s Global Energy Management Program. She has also served on the boards of the Denver Petroleum Club and the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen, actively contributing to their Education and Advocacy committees. Lisa’s passion for energy policy and leadership is evident through her completion of the Bighorn Leadership program, focused on energy policy in Colorado, and her graduation from Leadership Denver. Through her diverse career and unwavering commitment to education and advocacy, Lisa Hamil continues to make significant contributions to the energy industry.
“Energy, Climate, and Consumerism: Understanding the Hidden Costs of Everyday Choices”
This presentation examines the connections between energy use, climate change, consumerism, and addiction. From the energy required to produce and transport everyday items like food and clothing to the psychological tactics marketers use to drive consumption, students will uncover the environmental and personal impacts of modern consumer culture.
We’ll explore how marketing fosters addictive behaviors by exploiting emotions and insecurities, encouraging impulse buying and material dependency. Participants will learn about the hidden energy costs of their consumption habits, the environmental consequences, and strategies to resist unsustainable cycles and embrace more intentional, mindful living.
