Landman Lead (Asset Development) (Permian)

Travel Requirements:   Up to 25% of the time (as needed) 

Job Responsibilities

·          Supervises the Permian Asset Development land team and reports directly to the Permian Area Land Manager.

·          Performs special projects and serves as a back up to the Area Land Manager as needed.

·          Responsible for all drilling and development land activities in defined core areas.

·          Ability to keep up with rig schedule by proposing wells, running title, communicating with working interest owners and preparing all necessary land agreements for drilling and completing wells. 

·          Ability to perform personal responsibilities along with supervision of landmen in an assigned core area.

·          Determine availability of trades and deals to enhance current acreage inventory and our WI in wells within a defined core area.

·          Requires time out of the office attending industry functions and networking opportunities so that negotiations, face-to-face contacts and time sensitive deal offers can be pursued on a regular basis.

·          Works closely with the Permian Commercial land team to keep them informed of pending and completed deals.

·          Provides expert advice and leads team in developing business cases and presentation material to communicate Land opportunities to management.

·          Organizes, supervises and facilitates efforts of both internal staff and outside lease brokers, contract Landman and title attorneys.

·          Oversees the title examination process and the resolution of title defects.

·          Prepares, negotiates and reviews a wide variety of agreements including purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, joint operating agreements, farm-out agreements, pooling and letter agreements, assignments, and acreage trades/swaps with third parties.

·          Serves as a subject matter expert and mentor to others in the Land department.

·          Follows all external and internal federal, state and local policies and procedures related to Land management function.

Education & Experience:  Required Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years in Landman experience – Permian Basin experience preferred

Preferred:  Energy Management, Energy Commerce or Petroleum Land Management Bachelor’s Degree

Certified Professional Landman is preferred

·          Maintain focus on acquisition of leases and other oil and gas interests in core areas to keep up with drilling schedule.

Landman Lead (Commercial) (Permian)

Travel Requirements:   Up to 40% of the time to field locations (as needed) 

Job Responsibilities

·          Supervises land staff from a commercial standpoint and reports directly to the Permian Area Land Manager.

·          Performs special projects and serves as a back up to the Area Land Manager as needed.

·          Ability to perform personal responsibilities along with supervision of landmen to determine availability and opportunities for deals, land and leases for acquisition, development, divestiture or trade.

·          Collaborates closely with the Asset Team for potential opportunities and areas to target bolt-on acquistions, leases and minerals for purchase or trade.

·          Requires significant amount of time out of the office attending networking functions to ensure that negotiations, face-to-face contacts and time sensitive deal offers can be pursued on a regular basis.  

·          Works closely with the Permian Asset land team to keep them informed of pending and completed deals.

·          Leads team in developing business cases and presentation material to communicate Land opportunities to management
